It gives me great pleasure to welcome such a wide gathering of National Standard Bodies, academia, industry, stakeholders and other sector parties to celebrate the World Standards Day 2015 worldwide.
This year, the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIRI) marks the 90th anniversary of its establishment too. This allows us to take stock of a then ambitious program that has resulted in foundation of a reference body for setting National Standards in Iran.
Today, I am proud to say that ISIRI has provided excellent global contribution in developing International Standards for a safer and effective world to live in.
Standards are the world's common language. Without this crucial toolkit that provides a common infrastructure for harmonious and sustainable development, we cannot call a work success if we do not factor-in future challenges. One such challenge is the effect of climate change.
We also need to help each other in building capacity. Although this task is immense, I am positive that ISO will forge yet better collaboration with other organizations and agencies, such as the IEC, ITU, CODEX Alimentarius Commission, and other International and Regional Standards Developing Organizations for mobilizing resources and strengthening the capacity, setting proper regulations for the sake of public health and raising their awareness about standards on the overall welfare of human.
Happy World Standards Day 2015
