15th International Home Appliances Exhibition is organized with a focus on domestic production and increasing exports volume as another further step in line with accelerated development in flourishing the Islamic Republic of Iran's economy.
By the beginning of the 3rd millennium and outbreak of modern approaches, standards are no longer limited to technical aspects of goods and products, but also relate to every issue of our life in total. Applying standards ensure sustainable development; this is the effective component in development, employment and production. The Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIRI), with the collaboration of domestic stakeholders and related bodies, manages National Standards Development to keep the vague atmosphere around industries, business sector, etc. away from country and help transparency of activities.
The Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIRI), in line with fulfilling the Policies of the Resistance Economy Decree announced by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly implementation of item 24 saying "Increasing standards coverage for entire domestic products and its promotion" has developed and published over 26000 National Standards and keeps this as inherent. Therefore, there is an emerging new viewpoint within ISIRI for self-assertion, self-assessment and final assessment by the respective assessors. We are preparing a situation in which manufacturers assess their own products so that ISIRI trusts what is being declared by them. In case of detection any nonconformity, ISIRI preserves itself legal actions.
ISIRI as per its legal duties and responsibilities monitors any product in contact with public health, safety and also the competitive products in global markets. For instance most of the home appliances are subject to compulsory standards. Such products are being tested and controlled in terms of safety standards, performance, and energy consumption according to related national standards. After successful accomplishment of these processes, manufacturing establishments can apply for ISIRI Standard Mark for their products.
It should be mentioned that both National and International Standards present a definite level of quality based on international consensus process. Pioneer manufacturers and Brand Owners who have a share of global markets are beyond national and international standards borders just to survive in the competition field. Therefore, any producers who wish to have a share of international markets need to promote themselves and go beyond the national standards.
I hope Iranian manufacturers meet the requirement of their active presence at international markets through compliance with standards and regulations.
